For players that want to attend the 2012 Blue Chip Basketball Combine, the normal registration deadline ends April 27. After that there will be a $20 late fee.

Why a deadline? The BCBC is a highly structured camp that requires a lot of planning. We hire a lot of coaches and the best coaches need to be able to plan ahead. Plus, the Nike gear that the players get takes time to get here so we have to order them in advance.

What if I miss the normal registration deadline? As mentioned, there is a $20 late fee. But, if we still have spots open you can still register. Keep in mind, the longer you wait the more you are taking your chances. So your best bet is to not delay and get registered ASAP. Registration is a 2 step process and both steps must be completed to hold your spot.

At the Blue Chip Basketball Combine (BCBC) we pride ourselves on being more than just a basketball camp. Our athletes build their basketball specific skills, learn how the recruiting world works, are tested on their athleticism and compete at the highest level.

In addition, each BCBC participant will go through a rigorous athletic training session that will help them: improve their vertical jump, become more explosive, develop lateral movement and learn the best techniques to train. They will learn how to take this training and apply it to their own work outs after the BCBC has completed.

Here is a video from last year’s combine that will give you an idea of what we are talking about.

Part of the Blue Chip Basketball Combine is the Recruiting 101 session. Players will get an inside look at the recruiting world and parents are encouraged to attend and ask questions.

[as submitted by Clint Hordemann, Director of Player Development for Idaho Select Basketball]

Idaho Select's Tyson Percifield at his signing day, signing with Carroll College

If you are confused by college recruiting or have questions about the process, you are not alone. The whole process can be confusing! Only after years of going through it can any one truly understand the inner workings and complexities of recruiting, what is real and what is just smoke and mirrors. Here are a few questions that I am asked by parents and players on a regular basis.

What are colleges looking for?
In my 10 years of coaching I have spoken with hundreds of college coaches from NCAA Division I schools to junior colleges. What’s amazing to me is that no matter how big or small the school, they all ask the same 3 simple questions about players.

How do I know if a college is recruiting me?
There is a huge misconception on what being recruited is. In order to understand the process of recruiting you have to know what the other side (aka the college coach) is thinking, what he can and cannot do, and what he needs. I spent a year under Coach Trent Johnson at the University of Nevada Reno and learned the reality of the process. There can be a huge difference between being recruited and receiving a few letters. But how do I know where I stand?

What should I say when a college does call me?
When a college coach takes the time to call you, stay calm and organize your thoughts. In fact, as corny as it sounds, practice makes perfect so rehearse with your parents or in the mirror so you have a good idea of what to say. You may only get one shot at it so you want to come off genuine and hit a few hot topics. Knowing what and how to address those topics is the key to showing that you are a recruit that should be taken seriously.

Recruiting is confusing but it should be a fun and rewarding part of your basketball career. To make the most of the recruiting process don’t miss “Recruiting 101″ at the Blue Chip Basketball Combine.

We know that two of the biggest reasons that players attend showcase camps is to get exposure and develop their skills. The BCBC provides these for all the players that attend (click here to see how). Additionally, the top players in each class will get an opportunity to showcase their talents at the Idaho Select tryouts and beyond.

Mitch Bruneel and Joey Nebeker both played for Idaho Select and now have full Division I scholarships. Nebeker attended last year's BCBC.

Players that make an Idaho Select team get both development and exposure. They get a chance to work with some of the best coaches in the northwest and a chance to play in front of the biggest crowds of college recruiters and coaches. We have proven that playing for Idaho Select can make you better and get you more college opportunities. In the past year we’ve helped to place players at Utah State, Boise State, Idaho State and many more colleges. Click here to learn more about the Idaho Select program.

Players that receive an invitation to tryout for Idaho Select will have their tryout registration fee waived.

For those players that receive a tryout invitation but choose not to tryout can still take advantage of being selected. Those players have the option to choose instead to receive a $50 discount on their team registration for this summer’s BAM Jam, Idaho’s biggest 3 on 3 basketball tournament on the streets of downtown Boise.

**Please note that some age groups may not have Idaho Select teams for the summer (ie graduated players from the class of 2012 or younger classes where teams aren’t available). In those cases they will receive $50 off their BAM Jam team registration.

There are so many reasons to attend the the Blue Chip Basketball Combine. But we wanted to provide a little video that helps explain what we are talking about. Results may vary!

Because you want to get some serious bounce
In cooperation with Accolade Athletics, we are providing training on increasing your vertical, becoming more explosive off the dribble and increasing your overall speed. On the court, here’s what it can look like.

Because you want to learn better offensive skills
The BCBC tunes up the basic skills and introduces even more advanced skills such as the Euro Step that Manu Ginobili explains here.

Because you want endless range
The foundation of your shot is your legs and repetition is the key to consistency. Just ask Ray Allen.

Because you want to look good doing it
All participants at the Blue Chip Basketball Combine will receive and official Nike Dri-FIT jersey and shorts. When you look good, you feel good. And when you feel good, you play good. And nobody helps you look and play good like Nike!
